Christmas Tree Clean Up

Tis' the season for all the jolly merriment. Like most of our clients, we love our real tree. The one downside of a real tree some times drip sap & and needles start to drop. With that said there are a couple of handy tools and tricks in helping you clean up especially if you have carpet.

Rubber Brooms Are The Best for Removing Pine Needles

Before even thinking about turning on your vacuum cleaner, sweep the pine needles up first.

Christmas tree needles might have sap on them and can ruin a vacuum cleaner (who needs any surprise during the holidays!) Any broom will work, but we recommend using a broom with rubber bristles my favorite broom is the Norwex Rubber Broom System. Rubber brooms are good for removing fur from carpeting too!

Baking Soda Trick

Yup, baking soda can help clean up your Christmas tree! Before vacuuming, sprinkle baking soda over the needles – this trick will help coat the needles and make it easier when you vacuum them up. Make sure to do a thorough inspection and remove all of those pesky metal ornament hooks before vacuuming

Duct Tape The Rest

There are always those stubborn needles that get stuck in the carpet. To the rescue - duct tape -a handymans’ best friend can be the housekeepers best friend too.

Wrap the duct tape around your hands and pat those pesky pine needles, the few that are left you can pluck out with a tweezer.
