Root Chakra Reset: Cleaning Your Space, Clearing Your Energy

Welcome to Week 1 of our 7-Week Chakra + Feng Shui Cleaning Series! Each week, we’ll explore how the energy of your home connects with your chakras, and how simple shifts in cleaning, clutter, and intention can boost both your space and your spirit.

We’re starting right at the bottom: the Root Chakra (Muladhara). This chakra sits at the base of your spine and is all about stability, security, and feeling grounded. When your root energy is off, you might feel scattered, unsafe, or even worry about finances and your foundation in life. And yes—your home can either support or sabotage this energy.

Root Chakra in Your Home

In Feng Shui, the root chakra connects to the foundation of your space:

  • Entryway → Your front door is the “mouth of chi” (life force energy). A cluttered entry blocks good energy from flowing into your life.

  • Foundation & Storage → Think basements, closets, under-the-bed storage. If these areas are a mess, it can make you feel ungrounded or insecure.

  • First Impressions → How you greet the world (and yourself) starts right at the door.

  • Clutter impact: A chaotic entryway or messy storage can leave you feeling unstable, anxious, or financially stressed.

Cleaning Tip

  • Declutter your entryway: Clear shoes, bags, or random “drop spots” right at the door.

  • Closet love: Sort what you store—if it doesn’t serve you, release it.

  • Earthy scents: Diffuse cedarwood, patchouli, or vetiver while you clean. These oils are grounding and help reconnect you to stability.

Om Sweet Om Cleaning Ritual

Mix in a spray bottle or bucket. Use on tile, vinyl, or sealed hardwood entryways for a fresh, earthy scent that both cleans and stabilizes energy. (Avoid unsealed wood or delicate stone.)

Mold Matters: Basements & Root Health

Because the Root Chakra is linked to your foundation, basements deserve extra care. They’re grounding spaces, but they can also harbor mold, which impacts both health and energy flow.

  • For peace of mind, start with an ERMI test — a simple way to screen for mold in your home.

  • If you have serious concerns, professional help is key. In the Bay Area and Roseville, we highly recommend Bagel the Beagle from The Nose Patrol 🐾 — a trained mold-detection dog who’s as thorough as he is adorable.

Crystal for the Root Chakra

This week’s supportive crystal is Red Jasper.

Known as the “Stone of Endurance,” Red Jasper brings grounding energy, strengthens your connection to the earth, and boosts feelings of safety. Place a small piece near your entryway or in a closet to anchor the energy of stability in your home.

Essential Oils for Root Chakra

  • Cedarwood → Grounding + calming

  • Patchouli → Stabilizing, connects you with earth energy

  • Vetiver → Deep grounding, especially if life feels chaotic

Diffuse while cleaning, add a few drops to your mop water, or dab a drop on your wrists when you’re feeling wobbly.

Try This: Root Chakra Ritual

  1. Open your front door wide for a moment—let fresh energy sweep in.

  2. Clear out one closet or storage spot that makes you groan every time you see it.

  3. Place Red Jasper near your entry or in your pocket as you tidy.

Clean with cedarwood, patchouli, or vetiver for that cozy, safe, grounded vibe.

Next week, we’ll move up to the Sacral Chakra, diving into flow, creativity, and the spaces in your home where life energy needs to move freely.

And for the Bounce → remember, your home is an extension of your energy. A clear, cared-for space creates a clear, cared-for you.
